Katie Worth, 34, held a ball called “The Only Way is Pink” to support Breast Cancer Care and came away with a total of £43,000.

The event sold out in 24 hours and was attended by 320 people.

Katie, from Barkingside, said: “I have been totally overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity, it really was incredible.

“I never expected to raise anything like that. We completely smashed my target, which was about £20,000.”

The event, at the Menzies Prince Regent hotel, in Manor Road, Chigwell, featured an auction, three-course dinner, raffle and a prize draw for a holiday to New York.

Guests paid £50 each to be entered into the draw, which raised £6,500 on its own.

Katie, married to Ryan, 34, and mum to Chloe, three, and Isabella, eight, was inspired to fundraise for the charity after her own battle with breast cancer in 2011.

She had an “aggressive” form of the disease, which meant she had to endure a mastectomy, radiotherapy and six months of chemotherapy.

She also had reconstruction surgery.

Katie said: “I had only recently had my second daughter. It was very difficult, but I had people helping me on the Breast Cancer Care website who said i would get through it.

“That is why I wanted to raise the money at the ball.”

Katie was given her three-year all-clear from breast cancer in April, which was a cause for celebration.

“You are not really all-clear until five years, but when it is three years the chances of reoccurrence are massively reduced.

“Three years is a big milestone. My family and friends have all been unbelievable and I couldn’t have done it without them.”
