A Barkingside drama group is thrilled to have won a theatre festival for the second time in a row.

St Augustine’s Players, of Holy Trinity Church Hall, Mossford Green, performed Breaking and Entering at the east region of the All England One Act Theatre Festival.

The original comedy was penned by Mark Davenport and the troop were thrilled that “one of our own” members wrote the script.

“A lot of hard of work went into the production including a group shopping trip to Ikea for props,” thespian Jonathan Cruse, said.

“There are so many talented groups who perform at the festival and so the competition is high.

“Although it can be nerve racking and time consuming doing the festival it is all worthwhile and we will certainly be aiming for a hat-trick next year.”

As well as scooping first place, the players won the new writer’s awards, best stage presentation and best backstage crew.
