Street art created by pupils at a Chigwell school has been compared to works by Banksy by viewers in central London.
Students from Chigwell School, in High Road, Chigwell, had their work selected for an outdoor mural in the West End.
A theatre ticket agency haf asked the school’s art teacher Sharon Wales to submit the pupils’ graphic designs for the display in Charing Cross Road.
The area is visited by an estimated 100,000 people each year.
As a reward, the pupils were taken to see a West End show.
Miss Wales said the project was an “exciting opportunity” for the GCSE students, who were inspired by the theme of London theatre and tourism.
She added: “The winning designs were selected for their strong visual imagery and understanding of the highly creative and competitive nature of London’s West End theatre market.
“Indeed it was very pleasing for me to hear a passer-by on the day of the opening commenting how they thought ‘Banksy’ had been at work at the venue.”
