Members congratulated award-winning Redbridge residents and workers for recent accolades.

The mayor, Cllr Muhammed Javed, presented two students with their Rick Grice Spirit of the Games Award for their involvement in the London Youth Games.

CJ White, of Caterham High School, Caterham Avenue and Sophie Hammond, of Beal High School, Woodford Bridge Road, both 17, represented Redbridge at the youth games in indoor and outdoor rowing.

They are now instructors and coach and manage the borough team, helping them to five medals in the competition earlier this year.

The mayor, speaking at the full council meeting on November 15, said: β€œIt is great to see that former competitors are now heavily involved in inspiring the next generation.”

Members of the Redbridge Faith Forum were also applauded for winning the Compact Champions award.

The forum scooped the advancing qualities award for their commitment and partnership with social services and the NHS.

The mayor presented Jacquie Grieve, Saira Yakub and Shamshia Ali from Redbridge Faith Forum with their award.
