Armed police have arrested a man in Ilford in a pre-planned operation.

Michael Giscombe, 35, of Elmstead Road, Seven Kings, was arrested while walking in Clements Lane on Friday.

He appeared in Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with aggravated burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of an imitation firearm and theft from a shop.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Redbridge Magistrates’ Court on March 12 in connection with the theft of a shop charge, which relates to an alleged incident in High Road, Ilford.

He is due to appear for a plea hearing at Croydon Crown Court on May 8 in relation to the other three charges.
