Robberies and criminal damage incidents are among crimes which increased in three Redbridge wards last year.

Between February 2013 and January 2014, criminal damage rose by 6.9 per cent in Cranbrook, Newbury and Valentines, with the percentage for robberies increasing by 2.9.

An increase in violence against the person offences, 6.5pc, was also revealed by Redbridge police officers who attended an Area Committee Seven meeting yesterday evening at Highlands Primary School, in Highlands Gardens, Ilford.

However, there were also decreases in a number of crimes, such as residential burglary (21.4pc), other burglaries (28.9pc), theft of motor vehicles (15.9pc) and theft from motor vehicles (14.9pc).
