They say Thursday is the new Friday and one Gants Hill pub is set to prove it by giving away free pints of beer today (Thursday 20 September).

To celebrate the launch of Cask Ale Week, the King George V Greene King pub on Cranbrook Road is encouraging locals to take some time out of their busy day to enjoy a free pint of Abbot Ale – a premium ale brewed to be to be savoured and not rushed.

All that wannabee pint participants have to do is come into the pub today and tell the bar staff they are here to order a “pint of your finest ale”, at which point they’ll be provided with a free pint of Abbot Ale.

Aiden Lidbury, general manager of King George V, said: “With our increasingly busy lifestyles it can be hard to find a moment to stop and enjoy time with friends or family, so we wanted to give local people the opportunity to take some time out to catch up over a pint they didn’t have to pay for.

“Abbot Ale is a complex, full-flavoured beer that needs time to be enjoyed, so we’re hoping the free pint will provide the perfect excuse for local ale-lovers to take a break from their busy schedules to really savour the flavour of the beer.

“We look forward to seeing our guests wind down with a relaxing pint on the house this Thursday!”

The full list of participating pubs, and terms and conditions, can be found at greeneking-pubs.co.uk/abbotale.

There is one drink permitted per person and guests will need to be quick to get hold of one – as there are only 10 free pints per site.
