Ambulance called to ‘serious’ crash in Chigwell

A road was closed following a “serious” crash involving two cars this afternoon.
London Ambulance Service (LAS) was called to Chigwell Rise, Chigwell, before taking two people to hospital.
LAS Newham, which attended, tweeted pictures of the red Mini Cooper Countryman and grey Nissan Micra involved.
Essex Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward after they were alerted at 11.20am.
The Nissan driver, a woman aged in her 60s, from Woodford Green, suffered serious injuries and was taken by air ambulance to the Royal London Hospital.
The Mini driver, a man aged in his 80s, from Ilford, suffered injuries to his arm and was taken to Queens Hospital in Romford.
Diversions were in place on the 167 bus route this afternoon.
