Two men were sprayed with an “unknown substance” outside Redbridge Station.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) were called to reports of two men sprayed with a liquid to the face at 10.37am

on Redbridge Lane East, Redbridge.

An LFB spokeswoman said: “They were treated by us with copious amounts of water and they are now in the care of the London Ambulance Service.

“The incident was over for us by 11.”

Police confirmed there was an incident with a chemical but said it could “be acid or a noxious substance”.

A witness who did not want to be named said the road was filled with flashing lights from all three emergency services.

“They have closed the road by the chemist,” he said.

“No one can get down.”
