A new £45,000 footpath is being built at a country park in Barkingside, thanks to a charity which promotes sustainable transport.
Work started on the new pathway at Fairlop Waters, Forest Road, last week after wet weather delayed the project.
Sustrans, who secured the funding from Transport for London, will install the path on a section of the Redbridge Greenway, linking up the car park to the Painters Road walkway.
A spokesman for Sustrans added: “Fairlop Plain is a capped landfill site and gets very boggy so we may need to use more aggregate in the path so that it will be dry all year round.
“Local groups are supportive as the route is currently impassable in poor weather.”
