Twins had double the reason to celebrate after receiving their GCSE results on their birthday.
Adam and Diaa Khanifis, pupils at Woodbridge High School in Woodford Green, marked the occasion with grades that exceeded their expectations.
Diaa said: "It’s our birthday today and getting our results has made it extra special.
"We did much better than we thought we would and feel really happy.
"We are off to celebrate now."
The pair were among a cohort of students who contributed to what the school said were its best-ever GCSE results.
A third of all exams were graded at 7 or higher, with a number of pupils achieving straight 8s and 9s.
Sophie Flegg, who plans to stay on at Woodbridge to study psychology, business, and maths, said: "I’m so happy with my results.
"Teachers have been supportive, so it was lovely to see some of my teachers and share my results with them."
Abdalla Elgerbi also expressed his gratitude to staff.
He said: "I’m ecstatic with my results.
"My teachers really helped me to get my grades up and I’m so thankful.
"I’m really happy that I will be studying politics, sociology and economics at Woodbridge."
Tsvyatko Mangov was awarded six grade 9s, two grade 8s, two grade 7s, and a Distinction Star in extended maths.
He said: "I am so, so happy with my results.
"I first saw my 9 in chemistry and was really surprised.
"School has been great and really helped me a lot."
Headteacher Steven Hogan praised the year group for their "incredible hard work".
He said: "Our year 11 students have achieved our best ever results this year.
"They have aimed for excellence and achieved it.
"It is particularly great to see that many students have achieved strings of grades 8 and 9, have their pick of sixth form places, but will be returning to Woodbridge for their studies.
"Our congratulations go to all our students for their incredible hard work.
"I often tell Woodbridge students that they are the best kids I know, and it was a privilege to see their excited faces as they collected their results this morning and shared their triumphs with their friends.
"They are total superstars."
