The victim of a fatal hit-and-run at a busy junction in Chadwell Heath has been named.

Emergency services were alerted to the crash involving a car and motorbike at the junction of the A12 Eastern Avenue West and Whalebone Lane North at 9.20pm on Sunday (July 19).

At the scene, a 28-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead a short time after attempts were made to treat him.

Floral tributes have been laid near to the junction, with the victim now named as Anwar Shinwari.

Among tributes left at the scene is a note reading: "As Romford riders we all pay solidarity and utmost respect to our Brother Anwar Shinwari. RIP."

The Metropolitan Police believe a person made off from the scene on foot and are now looking to locate a suspect.
