A crematorium has reopened as a ‘SuperVenue’ following a major refurbishment.
Forest Park Cemetery and Crematorium temporarily closed last month for upgrades and has now reopened with new state-of-the-art technology. The improvements allow families to personalise ceremonies more than ever before, mourners can also now be greeted by the name and photo of their loved one on an external welcome screen.
Inside the chapel, a curated visual theme is projected onto the front wall and can be accompanied by a chosen soundtrack and coordinated lighting. Themes on offer include seasonal backgrounds, picturesque landscapes or even a football stadium in the colours and crest of the deceased’s favourite team.

Darren Dowd, manager of the site, said: "Research recently commissioned by Westerleigh Group revealed that 92 per cent of respondents said that having a personalised service is important, so we are proud to be able to offer the bereaved the opportunity to tailor a funeral to be more specifically unique to the individual being honoured than ever before.
"The feedback received from our SuperVenues already operating in other parts of the country has been extremely positive, and I look forward to supporting the bereaved near and further afield to have the chance to create the most memorable tributes to their loved ones, here at Forest Park."
The venue is part of the Westerleigh Group, one of the UK’s largest independent owners and operators of crematoria and cemeteries, with 42 sites across England, Scotland, and Wales.
Mr Dowd added: "In recognition of varied cultural and spiritual traditions of the communities living near Forest Park Crematorium, a wide range of religious symbols is available for incorporating into the service, too."
Forest Park is one of a growing number of Westerleigh crematoria to become a SuperVenue.
