Transport for London (TfL) has said it is working "at pace" to update residents on a timeline for Gallows Corner - but is still unable to confirm a full reopening date.
The statement follows a traffic order made by TfL for the partial closure of Southend Arterial Road (A127) until June 30 or until water works have been completed, whichever is sooner.
When the Recorder asked TfL whether the junction will reopen at the end of the month, it did not confirm, but instead said it is "working closely" with Essex & Suffolk Water to understand when the road can be reopened.
A TfL spokesperson said: "Work at Gallows Corner is continuing as Essex & Suffolk Water (ESW) progresses essential testing and commissioning of the newly installed water main.
"Significant work is taking place underground to ensure the network is safe and resilient.
"This work is being carried out in phases, allowing each stage to be completed thoroughly and safely, helping to protect vital water supplies and reduce the risk of future disruption.
"We are working closely with ESW to understand when the road can be safely opened, and we are working at pace to update residents on this timeline."
It has now been a month since TfL partially reopened the junction on May 11 - including allowing traffic on Straight Road, Main Road and the westbound carriageway of the flyover - and almost a year since the full closure began.
The latest drone photos of Gallows Corner showed several large pits still dug on the A127, close to the roundabout, as part of Essex & Suffolk Water's ongoing works to replace the water main under the road.
