A multi-sports coach has been honoured with the Freedom of the City of London.

Tanvir Ahamed, 37, who lives in Redbridge, received the award on April 28, for his work in grassroots sports and cricket development.

Mr Ahamed, an ECB Level 3 Advanced Cricket Coach, was also recognised as the ECB Coach of the Year in 2022.

Reflecting on his accomplishments, Mr Ahamed said: "This recognition comes at a pivotal stage in my career and personal development.

"I hope this award will help me further strengthen my skills, create new opportunities for the people I work with, and allow me to continue representing the beautiful games I am so passionate about."

In addition to his cricket coaching, Mr Ahamed supports young people and communities across London through grassroots sport. He also acknowledged the support of professionals and charity organisations he has worked with.
