Guide Dogs' Redbridge Training Centre is opening its doors to the public for a Fun Day.
The event, taking place in Woodford Green on May 9, marks the 40th anniversary of the site and aims to raise funds for the charity’s vital work.
First opened by HRH Princess Alexandra on May 7, 1986, the training centre prepares dogs for future partnerships with blind and partially sighted people.
Inside its new state-of-the-art facilities, nearly 250 dogs are trained each year, with around 75 dogs housed on-site at any given time.
Visitors to the fun day will have the chance to see some of the dogs in training, enjoy trainer demonstrations, and tour a dog care room.

Becca Gamble, dog supply manager at the Redbridge centre, said: "We’re looking forward to welcoming the public and giving people a chance to see the work that takes place behind the scenes at Guide Dogs' Redbridge Training Centre.
"The dogs we train here in Woodford Green can go on to life-changing partnerships with people with sight loss. But this is only possible with the support of our local volunteers and members of the public."
Staff will also be available to discuss volunteering opportunities such as puppy raising or fostering.
Other attractions include a tombola, raffle, games, competitions, and a barbeque.
Refreshments including snacks, sweets, and drinks will be available throughout the day.
The event runs from 11am to 4pm, with a suggested entry donation of £2 for adults and £1 for children. It will take place at Guide Dogs’ Redbridge Training Centre, 7a Manor Road, Woodford Green.
Pet dogs cannot be accommodated at the event. Parking will not be available on-site, but vehicles can be parked nearby at West Hatch School, High Road, Chigwell, IG7 5BT.
Funds raised will directly contribute to Guide Dogs’ mission of helping people with sight loss live independently.
Guide Dogs relies on donations to fund its services, and all proceeds from the event will support people with sight loss. This includes guide dogs, buddy dog schemes, vision rehabilitation, and other forms of support.
