A suspected drink driver has been arrested after a gun and drugs were found following a crash in Chigwell, London Now reports.
Emergency services were called to Manford Way, by its junction with Covert Road, at around 10.53am yesterday (April 5).
Metropolitan Police officers attended and discovered a crash had occurred involving a car and a parked car.
The London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade were also in attendance, our sister title London Now reports.
The diver, a man in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink, possession of a firearm, and possession of a Class B drug.
He was taken to hospital before being taken into custody.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “On Sunday, 5 April at around 10:53hrs, police responded to reports of a road traffic collision between a car and a parked car on Manford Way at the junction of Covert Road, Chigwell.
“Officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade to assess the welfare of the driver. His injuries are not believed to be life‑changing or life‑threatening, and no other injuries were reported.
“The driver, a man in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink, possession of a firearm and possession of a Class B drug. He has been taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries before being taken into police custody.”
