A dozen community heroes in Redbridge have been honoured at this year's Mayor's Community Awards.
The ceremony was held in Redbridge Town Hall earlier this month.
In total, just less than 60 individuals and groups were nominated for the awards - with judges narrowing down the list to a selection of winners.
Mayor of Redbridge, Cllr Beverley Brewer, also handed out two special awards for outstanding contributions to the borough.
Ann Kyndt, 90, was given the further recognition by the mayor for her 50 years of volunteering for charity CFDN and supporting those living with disabilities.
Dr Mohammed Fahim was the second nominee to be given the special award, praised for his "remarkable" work with charities as chairman and head imam at the South Woodford Islamic Centre, and making the case for peace between religions.
Nominees who were named as community champions include those focused on reducing food waste and giving back to those in need, a Metropolitan Police officer who was stabbed whilst off duty, and a caretaker who successfully saved a man's life through CPR.
