Two people have been arrested after a boy was hit by a car in Chigwell.

Essex Police were called to High Road before 4pm yesterday (October 17) following reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

A 14-year-old boy was found at the scene, and he was rushed to the hospital. His injuries are serious, but not believed to be life-threatening.

A 23-year-old man from Ilford has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, use of a motor vehicle without third party insurance, driving whilst unfit through drink and driving whilst unfit through drugs.

Additionally, a 24-year-old man from Loughton has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving whilst unfit through drink and driving whilst unfit through drugs.

Both men have since been released under investigation while officers conduct enquiries.

Essex Police has appealed for witnesses and anyone with information to call them quoting reference number 717 of 17 October. They are especially keen to speak to people who may have seen a Grey Mercedes E Class convertible driving in the area around that time.
