A school in Ilford saw pupils collect their grades at its final GCSE results day before its permanent closure.

More than half of GCSE students at Park School for Girls were awarded top grades of 7 to 9, including 14.2 per cent of pupils awarded the highest grade of nine.

Top grades of 8 and 9 were achieved by 30.3pc of students and almost 82pc of pupils gained at least one 7 to 9 grade.

The Recorder reported the school's closure in June and the school said this had come after almost 50 years in operation.

“Our pupils can all celebrate with pride, despite the circumstances, and can now look forward to moving onto the next stage of their education,” a spokesperson said.
