A man has been charged with multiple offences after a moped rider was injured in a crash in Gants Hill.

At around 3.30pm on Monday (June 26), a car that had allegedly failed to stop for police crashed with a moped.

The collision happened in Cranbrook Road at the junction of Martley Drive.

London Ambulance Service attended and the rider of the moped, a man aged in his 20s, was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.

His condition was initially deemed critical but is now stable and not thought to be life-threatening.

However, it may be potentially life-changing - his next of kin have been told.

There were no reports of any other injuries.

Gabriel Budek, 25, of Cherry Blossom Close, Enfield, was due to appear at Barkingside Magistrates' Court today (Wednesday, June 28) charged with:

  • Section 18 - causing grievous bodily harm with intent to resist/ prevent arrest
  • Cause serious injury by dangerous driving
  • Aggravated vehicle taking
  • Fail to stop a mechanically propelled vehicle when required by constable
  • Driver of a vehicle fail to stop after a road accident
  • Drive a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a license
  • Use a motor vehicle on a road/ public place without third party insurance
  • Possess a controlled drug of Class B - Cannabis/ Cannabis Resin

Officers investigating the collision are keen to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident or the events leading up to, including any road users who may have captured the collision on dashcam.
