A charity day organised by a Hornchurch woman has raised more than £3,300 for St Francis Hospice.
Angela Mahmut, 47, along with help from some friends, raised £1,322 for the hospice by throwing a fun day at her home in Strathmore Gardens.
A further £2,000 was donated to the hospice by Barclays and Halifax banks after they helped out on the day.
Activities throughout the day included beauty treatments, raffles, a tombola, guess the weight of the cake and Frankie the Lion, the hospice mascot, made an appearance.
Angela decided to start raising money for the hospice after seeing the work being done when her husband was working there.
The money raised was an improvement on last year’s £1,001 and Angela said: “Everyone is overjoyed with the new total raised.
“It’s surprising what you can do in your back garden with the help of friends and family!”
There is still a signed England football shirt and a hospice pendant that are yet to be auctioned, so further money will still be raised in the next few weeks.
