Sea cadets held lit flares aloft and waved flags as they represented Hornchurch and Upminster at the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games, in Queen Elizabeth Park, Stratford.
The cadets proudly held their flares ablaze at the very front of the ceremony amongst famous attendants including members of the royal family.
They were “thrilled to have taken part in such a historical event”, meeting ‘“wounded warriors” of the Italian team who are “well respected and appreciated by the youngsters”, according to their spokesman.
The army and air cadets marched alongside them waving the country’s flag.
The spokesman said: “It was a fantastic opportunity for cadets to take part in such an event”
She went on to describe how fantastic it was to see the youngsters stood suited and booted in front of the phrase in lights “I AM”, from the famous Victorian poem Invictus.
