A new season of Comedy and Curry opens at Queen’s Theatre this week.
Launched by the theatre in Billet Lane, Hornchurch, the much awaited return of Comedy Club will feature a trio of side splitting stand-ups – Michael Fabbri, Mark Maier and Ria Lina.
The night will kick off in the Foyer on Thursday, August 24 at 8.30pm.
First on the billing is Michael, who has performed at several major clubs across the UK and last year even had his own BBC Radio 4 series, Dyslexicon.
Expect uproarious treatment of controversial topics and a refreshingly honest take on touchy everyday subjects.
He will be joined by the award-winning Mark Maier, a highly sought-after performer on the national stage – and for good reason.
Famed for his ad lib pieces, he is a must-see for anyone looking for an improvisational masterclass that can’t be beaten.
Lastly, audiences keen on a fearless wit who indulges in the occasional sing-along will have Ria Lina to get excited about.
The comic has won acclaim from several media outlets for her hysterical taboo-centred routines.
And to top things off, before the curtains are drawn and the laughs begin there will be a variety of delicious meat and vegetable curries complete with naan and rice to tuck into.
“It’s an entertaining, fun night out and you get to see some fantastic comedy acts before they make it onto mainstream TV,” said a spokesman for the Queen’s Theatre.
“In the past the theatre has had Russell Howard, Michael McIntyre, Jack Whitehall, Lucy Porter, Josh Widdicombe and Romesh Ranganathan perform at Comedy Club before they struck fame.
“It’s a great way of seeing the circuit’s best up and coming comics on a small stage without having to travel into central London.”
Two further Comedy Clubs will take place this autumn on Thursday, October 26 and Thursday, November 23.
The bar is open from 6pm. Tickets cost £11.50, concessions are £10. Admission to all three shows costs £27.
