A Havering law firm is aiming to raise thousands of pounds through several events for dementia charity Tapestry in Hornchurch this year.

The award-winning Pinney Talfourd, who work across Havering and Brentwood, selected the dementia charity, in North Street, to fundraise for the year of 2018/19.

Several staff members took part in ‘Wills Week’ last month by having their wills written for a minimum donation of £95.

Pinney Talfourd’s marketing manager, Vicky Bunn, explained why they chose to support Tapestry, saying: “We fundraised for children’s charity Snap! based in Brentwood last year, so this time we wanted to support the opposite end of the spectrum by the helping the elderly.

She added: “We invited registered charities to get in touch and then we asked our staff to pick the one they feel the most close to home.”

Staff at Pinney Talfourd’s plan to hold one fundraising activity per month with all money raised will being 100% donated to Tapestry.

Mayor of Havering, Linda van der Herne, gave an exclusive talk at the law firm to launch the annual campaign last month.

Chief executive officer of Tapestry, Anthony Lowe, hosted the Launch Itinerary last Tuesday where tours of HOPWA House took place, followed by food and drinks.

Dress down days, quiz and curry nights and half marathons are some of the fundraising ideas Pinney Talfourd’s Charity Committee have planned throughout the year.

The charity hopes to raise £90,000 to construct Havering’s first ever sensory garden at HOPWA House and improve services for those living with dementia.

Tapestry’s marketing and planning manager, Lucy Pattrick said: “Those living with dementia have the opportunity to live healthy, connected and fulfilled lives for as long as possible in their own homes, and these new facilities will enable us to do this better, for longer and for more people.”

Lucy also revealed Tapestry plan to increase respite opportunities for carers and provide them with the best support and advice they need.

Another Wills Week is scheduled for early next year for anyone wanting to make a donation to Tapestry, register at the nearest Pinney Talfourd’s branch.
