Soldiers past and present will be in the community’s thoughts next weekend, as a number of services are held to mark Remembrance Day.

Traditional commemorations are due to take place across the borough on November 12, following a service attended by many schoolchildren on November 10

Friday, November 10

East Ham cenotaph, Central Park, High Street South

The service will begin at 10.45am, with a two-minute silence at 11am. A number of schools are taking part, including St Joachim’s, St Anthony’s Primary, St Michael’s Primary, St Winefride’s Primary, St Bonaventure’s and St Angela’s Ursuline.

Sunday, November 12

East Ham cenotaph, Central Park, High Street South

Royal British Legion members will march from High Street South to Central Park from 10.30am, with the service commencing at 10.55am.

Rev Fred Ashford-Okai will lead proceedings.

All Saints West Ham Parish Church, Church Street

This service, conducted by Rev Stephen Chandler, will begin at 10.45am, but guests are asked to be seated for 10.30am.

St Luke’s Memorial, Tarling Road, Canning Town

Led by Ven. Emeka Ejinkonye, this commemoration will start at 10.45am.

St Mark’s Memorial, Factory Road, North Woolwich

The parade will begin at the North Woolwich & Silvertown Royal British Legion Club, proceeding to St Mark’s Memorial, where Rev Ann Easter will deliver a service.

The march begins at 10.30am, and the service at 10.45am.
