A father and son from Ilford ordered a gang attack on their neighbours after a “childish” row over a parking space.

Mohammed Aslam, 54, and son Azhar of Airlie Gardens led the mob attack which included six of the 19-year-old’s friends on Abdul Manan and his son Osman in May last year.

Snaresbrook Crown Court heard that the victims were repeatedly kicked and punched in the head until they blacked-out.

The brawl, which started when Azhar punched Osman in the head, stemmed from a dispute between the two fathers over a parking space in a narrow alleyway in Sprowston Mews, Forest Gate where both families have garages.

When police arrived on the scene the six men were found hiding in a garage.

Azhar was jailed for 16 months after pleading guilty to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

His father Mohammed was given a 50 week sentence suspended for two years.

The gang were all sentenced to 40 weeks imprisonment suspended for 18 months.

It comprised Abdur-Rehman Khan of The Drive, Sinan Faiz, of Hyacinth Close, Arafat Lodhy, of Wanstead Park Road, Luqman Khan, of Endsleigh Gardens, Shiraz Zafar of De Vere Gardens, all 20, and Moshin Suleman of Balfour Road, 21.

Turning to Mohammed Aslam, Judge Murray Shanks said: “You started all of this with some silly dispute about parking and you then took it upon yourself to exact some kind of revenge.

“It is all very childish behaviour.”

Addressing Azhar Aslam, Judge Shanks said: “You were the one who rounded up the other boys out of some sort of misplaced loyalty to your father.

“You were at his right hand side and you were the one who started the fight and therefore you must bear a greater responsibility and you will receive a custodial sentence.”
