Police found more than 3,000 of cannabis plants when they raided a South Woodford home.
After being tipped off about the factory in Peel Road, officers forced entry to the house to find it had been converted to cultivate cannabis plants.
Around 600 plants were seized, the majority of them were fully matured, although no occupants were found at the house.
The police are liaising with the letting agent to find out who had been living there.
Sgt David Somerville said: “Through timely intervention we have disrupted a gang growing a considerable amount of cannabis. There was also added danger as the electricity meter had been by-passed and the area had an automatic irrigation system resulting in water and electricity crudely plumbed throughout the property.” To report suspicious activity in your neighbourhood, contact the police on 101.
