Teams took to the pitch to tackle violence against women in a football tournament to mark White Ribbon Day.
Ten teams took part in the tournament organised by Redbridge Council and the London Tigers FC, held at the Fairlop Power League, Forest Road, Hainault last week.
Raj Pahal, 29, from the London Tigers, said: “It seemed like a fantastic charity to be supporting and the best thing was it was the first football tournament to promote the charity, it was a very new thing for us to be doing.”
White Ribbon Day encourages men to make pledges against anyone committing violence against women.
Redbridge Police, victim support and the council all had teams with victory being claimed by voluntary organisation Pupil Parenting Partnership.
“People really enjoyed it, some teams did not playing as will as they hoped but it was a brilliant,” said Mr Pahal. “We would like to continue it in the future.”
One of the players who took part was Kabir Rathor, 28 of Gants Hill.
He said: “It was a really good day and was well organised. I hope it will bring more attention to violence against women - the community should be against it.”
