GCSE grades have risen at a Snaresbrook school after exams were re-marked among controversy over English results.
Exam board AQA re-marked English language and literature exams from pupils at Forest School, in College Place, for free after teachers insisted grades were too low.
Many students were disappointed with marks that fell well below predictions on results day in August after grade boundaries were raised.
The number of pupils achieving A* grades has risen from 27 to 33 in English literature and from 32 to 41 in English language.
The number of students with A grades also rose from 55 to 57 across both exams.
Director of teaching and learning Jonathan Mitchell said the school was “happy” with the outcome.
He added: “Our pupils have worked so hard, and this is reflected in the fact that the most common GCSE grade across the board is the A* grade.”
