Elderly carers in Redbridge are benefiting from a £40,000 Health Lottery boost.
Redbridge Carers Support Service aims to promote better health through exercise classes and peer support for more than 100 carers aged 70 and above.
It received the funding windfall in a grant from the People’s Health Trust.
The money comes on top of another £40,000 grant raised through the lottery.
Cathy O’Keeffe, the older carers services manager, said: “To know that we can now build on the success that we’ve achieved as a result of the initial funding is great news for the team here, as well as to the carers that we support through this project.”
