A park users group is campaigning for a new multi-sport area in a Seven Kings park.

The South Park Users Group is asking pupils at Isaac Newton Academy, in Cricklefield Place, Ilford what they would like to see.

The children are replying to a survey on the park, in South Park Drive, later this month.

Users group secretary Tony Hoad said: “The school is growing and we want to ask the young people what they want.

“At the moment there’s an ancient basketball court and it gets a lot of use, especially in the summer.

“But we want people to be able to play a variety of games like football and hockey as well.”

Isaac Newton Academy headteacher Rachel Macfarlane said pupils will be getting involved in other work in the park including conservation and tree planting.

She added: “We are really keen to get involved because a lot of our children live around the park and went to South Park Primary School.

“It’s great what the group is doing to improve the park.”

In a survey, the pupils will tell the users group how much they use the park, what facilities they would like to see and if they would use them.

Mr Hoad said the South Park Users Group has been in touch with council leisure operator Vision, who will look at the possibility of implementing suggestions that are made.
