Pupils got bike savvy during a week dedicated to cycling and bike safety at a Gants Hill school with help from Dr Bike.
Gearies Junior School, Gants Hill Crescent, held their own Bike Week events last week to encourage more youngsters to cycle to school, and Dr Bike paid a visit to help them fix any problems they might have with their own bikes.
Both Key Stage 1 and 2 got involved by designing posters and writing poetry about cycling safety, and the winner was given a brand new bike while bike locks were also awarded to the runners-up.
Headteacher Bob Drew said: “We want the children to persuade their parents to let them cycle to school after learning about how to stay safe and be more environmentally friendly.
“The week went extremely well and I pleased that pupils are now better trained to cycle safely.”
