Two men attempted to rob a jewellers in George Lane, South Woodford, on Friday.
Police were called to Richard Miles jewellers at around 12.40pm.
The suspects were both white and were unarmed.
A Met Police spokesman said they escaped empty handed and an investigation is ongoing.
The store was targeted during the London riots of 2011 when it was ransacked and gold and silver jewellery and watches were taken from displays.
