Police are keeping an “open mind” as to whether the two shootings in Ilford and Chadwell Heath on Saturday, less than four miles apart, are linked.
A 26-year-old man was shot in the chest and legs outside his home in Fairfield Road, Ilford, at 5.45pm which followed an earlier shooting in Grove Road, Chadwell Heath when a man in his 20s was shot in the chest.
A spokesman for Metroplitan Police said: “The police activity at Nyall Court, Ardleigh Green, on July 30 is part of an ongoing investigation into a number of incidents that took place recently in the Ilford/Chadwell Heath area.
“Police retain an open mind as to whether the incidents are linked. The possibility that they are linked is one avenue of investigation. Inquiries are ongoing.”
