A five-year-old boy was hit by a car in Goodmayes on Saturday.
The boy was believed to be walking with his parents when the accident happened in Green Lane around 3.15pm.
Mani Singh saw the aftermath crash while working in New Concept Windows.
He said: “I saw the child in the road, he was wriggling and moving. He was obviously in pain.
“His mum and dad were hysterical and so was the driver.”
Police cordoned off the road after the incident and an air ambulance landed near South Park.
A London Ambulance Spokesman said: “Our staff treated one patient, a five-year-old boy, for head injuries and he was taken by ambulance to the Royal London Hospital.”
The boy’s condition is not known. No arrests have been made.
