Woodford firefighters were called out three times in the space of half an hour – because workers were resurfacing a road.
Three separate householders in the area surrounding George Lane, South Woodford, called the fire brigade after seeing smoke from the roadworks area between 10.30pm and 11pm yesterday.
There was no danger, but firefighters commended the public for their vigilance.
