A campaign to re-route a Hainault bus service picked up speed at the area committee meeting.
Cllr David Poole conducted a door-knocking survey in Brocket Way and The Lowe to gauge opinions of residents regarding the 362 bus service. It followed complaints from homeowners about noise and vibration in their properties.
The service was re-routed in 2007 following then London Mayor Ken Livingstone’s policy that no household should be more than 400m from a bus service.
“It is unimaginable how we lived before that,” said Cllr Poole during last week’s meeting of area committee three, held in Fullwell Cross Library, High Street, Barkingside.
Of the 37 households he surveyed in The Lowe, 34 residents were in favour of moving the bus service away from the road.
In Brocket Way however, only eight of the 18 households wanted it moved.
Cllr Poole will present his findings to the council before any action is taken.
