Claiming to be Britain’s only Asian drag artist, Asifa Lahore brings her unique talents to Ilford on Friday.
Combining her skills as a performer, hostess and DJ, the self-proclaimed “curry queen” blends her Asian background, British upbringing and uncanny flair for glamour during a side-splitting hour.
In 2013, she won the Drag Idol UK bronze medal and now performs regularly at cabaret venues across the country - including Halfway To Heaven and West 5, in London.
Asifa also DJs at two of the capital’s most successful world music nights - Club Urban Desi, in Shoreditch, and Disco Rani, in South Ealing.
She is considered a pioneering figure by many, and as a proud Muslim she is a highly visible figure within the gay Asian community - often using social media to advocate LGBT activism.
The event at Redbridge Central Library, in Clements Road, begins at 8.30pm and is strictly for over 18s.
Tickets cost £2.50, and be purchased from the library. For more information, visit redbridge.gov.uk or call 020 8708 2337.
