A record 135 different types of birds have been found flitting about Wanstead.
Birdwatchers painstakingly counted the species for the annual report of species in the Wanstead Flats and Wanstead Park.
The rich mosaic of woodland, grassland, scrub and pools is a haven for birds.
It is a favourite rest spot for whinchats and spotted flycatchers taking a break from their autumn migration to Africa.
Skylarks are among the birds that breed in the area and rare stone curlews and barred warblers have been seen.
Members of the Wren Group and Wanstead Birding bloggers spent thousands of hours compiling the report.
Their findings will be used for conservation management by the City of London Corporation, which runs the Wanstead sites as part of Epping Forest.
Wren Group chairman Tim Harris, said Wanstead was one of the “best places in London” for spotting songbirds.
He added: “I would like to thank all who made this record year possible, for the thousands of hours spent out on the patch in all weather and the help in accumulating the data needed to put this report together.”
