A woman has been killed after being hit by a train at Ilford station but lines have now reopened.

The incident was reported at 9.20am and police and the London Ambulance Service attended but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “The incident is currently being treated as non-suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the person and inform their family.”

The tragedy is the third at Redbridge stations in little over a month.

Anita Kaur Swali, 24, was killed by a train at Seven Kings station on February 14 and Guljar Singh, 42, died there a week later on February 21.
