A teenager has bagged herself a place at Cambridge University after achieving four A*s.
Saakshi Bansal, 18, will be heading to the university to study medicine after achieving the grades in biology, chemistry, maths and psychology.
The Beal High School student said: “I feel awesome. I had absolutely no idea how I would do and was really nervous.
“You never know how the rest of the country has done and the grade boundaries can go haywire. I had hoped I’d do well.”
Like many other students, Saakshi was quick to fill her family in on her results.
“They said they wouldn’t really mind what I got because I had worked hard, but they thought I did really well.”
The student didn’t know what she wanted to do during high school, but settled on medicine while studying at the sixth form, in Woodford Bridge Road, Redbridge.
She said: “I thought about what I am good at, which is science, and went from there. Then in Year 12 I thought, ‘I really want to do this’.
“The course seems quite long but I think like A-levels it will go by quite quickly! I am really excited.”
