A memorial bench in tribute to a pharmacy technician who lost her battle with breast cancer at the age of 50 has been unveiled at King George Hospital.
Chief technician Lauren Goldberg, who worked in the pharmacy team at King George Hospital for more than 10 years, died of breast cancer in October 2012.
A picnic bench in her memory has been unveiled at a ceremony attended by her colleagues, trust chief executive Matthew Hopkins, Lauren’s son Janson and her mum and dad, Sylvia and Cyril Simmons.
The pharmacy team were all dressed in purple to mark her favourite colour.
The bench, which has been placed outside of the pharmacy office, will be used by staff and patients.
Janson said: “This was a really proud moment to know that all of the people that worked with her over the years have remembered her. It has been lovely to come back to the hospital and see so many familiar faces.”
Senior principal pharmacist Yousaf Razzak said: “It was a pleasure to remember Lauren in this way. She worked so hard to help students prepare for their exams and she was a real role model for development, promoting high standards and helping people develop to the best of their ability. We miss her hugely.”
