The borough’s youth council has announced it will fund drama tours in schools focusing on mental health and careers conferences with the £100,000 grant it received earlier this year.
The news came at the second Youth Debate at Redbridge Town Hall last week.
Since the money was approved by cabinet in April, the youngsters have been identifying the issues which matter most to them.
From February 2015 drama tours around schools will take place to raise awareness on issues surrounding mental health.
Cllr Elaine Norman reminded those present at the Youth Debate one in four young people are affected by a mental health issues today.
Wristbands will also be made - in four different colours to highlight the issue - with four different messages.
The wristbands will be available to buy in schools and local youth centres from October 10 - World Mental Health Day - until they sell out.
A speed mentoring event on December 10 will enable schoolchildren to engage with young professionals in several fields to gain an insight into their career background.
