Having already established Pie Factory in Whitechapel, Shaynul Khan, 44, has opened a second branch in Cranbrook Road.

The menu offers an eclectic mix of British and south Asian cuisine, fusing traditional and classic English meals with spice from the subcontinent.

A self-professed foodie, Shaynul’s culinary conception was inspired by the pie and mash shops and home-cooked curries of his east London childhood.

“It’s all about good, wholesome food,” he said.

As a former Olympic weightlifter, Shaynul is a strong advocate of healthy eating.

“We serve a range of classic pies – think steak and kidney, chicken and mushroom – but also chicken tikka masala, super hot mince beef, and kofta pies,” he said.

Fusion is at the heart of Pie Factory’s ethos.

“This Halloween, we will serve a special pumpkin and king prawn pie,” he continued.

“A few people have attempted to copy our style, but unsuccessfully.”

Alongside pies, customers can expect to see steaks on the menu and those with a sweet tooth can treat themselves to delectable pastries.

The apple pie – made from an original 17th century French recipe – should satiate your craving.

“We are excited to branch out into Ilford and can’t wait to see what people here think of our pies,” Shaynul added.

“We’re also looking forward to collaborating with other businesses, and contributing to the local economy.”
