The first 10k women’s Sparkle Walk raised more than £15,000 for Haven House Children’s Hospice.
About 200 women participated in the event walking from Woodford Green to the Cuckfield pub in Wanstead on Friday, May 18.
They wore pink Sparkle Walk shirts and accessorized with glitter.
Haven House events manager Katie Tyler said the walk was a success and attributed some of the achievement to good weather and the excitement for the next morning’s royal wedding.
“For a new event this really exceeded all expectations, and to see so many women coming together to raise funds for local life-limited children and their families was wonderful,” Ms. Tyler said.
Hetheringtons real estate agency sponsored the event.
Haven House is now planning for its 15th Birthday Summer Fair on July 1, where community members can celebrate with the charity while also helping it raise money to continue its services.
