It will be non-stop potting for Dagenham and Redbridge FC during a 24-hour pool fundraiser for a children’s ward.
King George Hospital’s paediatric ward has saved the lives of team member Tony Davies’ two children, who were both treated there for life-threatening conditions.
Now the team wants to raise £7,500 to refurbish the ward’s sensory room which provides a tranquil haven and also acts as a learning space.
Over the past few years they have run charity events raising more than £12,000 for the ward, enabling it to purchase equipment and make the children’s stay as comfortable as possible.
Club spokesman Daniel Scotcher said: “We welcome anyone down to the club to help support the event and raise money for a very worthwhile cause.”
The marathon takes place from noon on Sunday at Dagenham and Redbridge football club in Victoria Road, Dagenham.
There will be several competitions. A bar and Sky Sports is available, admission is free and open to all.
