We could be in for a new development. I’m not talking about some housing project, we could be getting our own film studio.

Admittedly it feels like the housing crisis is a bigger issue than the shortage of film studios but it is a real issue.

When we started on The Mash Report we were in The London Studios near Waterloo. Sadly that closed in 2018. It was a shame because it was on the Jubilee line and I am not famous enough to get a car provided.

While working at The London Studios I got in a lift with Stacey Solomon once. They say never meet your heroes, so being in the same building as the Loose Women was safe.

After that we moved to Pinewood, a place with such heritage. There's a slim chance that I used a bathroom that Sir Alec Guinness had been in.

The problem with Pinewood is that it is in the middle of nowhere.

There are no train stations near it. You can't even get a direct bus from Slough train station.

I am not sure how Sir Alec coped with having to change buses. Did he have the right money or did he pull the old, "These are not the tickets you're looking for," trick?

For the next series we are moving to Elstree. That's where EastEnders is filmed. It's a long journey on a Thameslink train to get to a pretend version of East London.

That's why I want Barking to have a studio.

The site where the studio could be is right by Dagenham East tube station.

Not only will it be useful for all the productions displaced by the closure of The London Studios and not only will it be able to attract great films and TV show, but more importantly, I'd get to work quicker.
