Coronavirus has impacted our lives.

We used to long to get home, kick off our shoes and have a nice glass of wine. These days all we want is to get home, wash our hands and give our faces a darn good touch.

I had no idea I enjoyed touching my face so much. I’d think about why but that would lead to chin stroking and that’ll be outlawed soon.

If you are working from home because of this virus, let me help. As a freelance writer I have worked from home for many years.

There are some simple things you can do to make it easier.

Make home feel like a day in the office. Getting dressed will feel unnecessary but if you sit around in your PJs all day it puts you in the mindset to watch daytime TV.

As a bare minimum you should put smart clothes on your top half. You’ll be in a mood to work and you’ll look passable on a Skype call as long as you don’t stand up to reach for something.

Another big problem when you are at home is you own everything in the nearest fridge and it can be tempting to pop to it for regular snacks.

Make your fridge more like one you’d find in an office. Spill some milk in it now. By the time the coronavirus infection rate peaks in 10 to 14 weeks time, your fridge will have the cheesy whiff of an office fridge and it will put you off eating every time you open the door.

If you really want working at home to feel like going into the office take an hour or so every morning and evening to go and sit in the car and swear at people.
