A campaign to bring in a controlled drinking zone in a South Woodford ward has kicked off.
Members of the Conservatives’ Church End Action Team are calling for a zone to be implemented in George Lane, High Street and surrounding roads to combat street drinking.
They began their campaign in George Lane on November 16, where they collected 200 signatures for a petition.
Action team member Emma Best explained: “Controlled drinking zones have proven to be an effective measure.”
Redbridge Council had failed to provide a comment at the time of going to press.
